I love community, don’t you? I can honestly say we live in the best community- the Northern Neck.
Not only is the heritage rich here, the people are some of the best I’ve ever encountered. Whatever the circumstance or life event, you always have someone there for you - including and maybe even especially, when you’re building your business.
When I reached out to ask a friend if he’d take me out for some photos of him and his son fishing the river, he didn’t hesitate to say come on! He said let me find a good day, low wind and I’ll call you back. He picked a perfect day, little to no wind, and a forecast of mid- to high 50s. After 30+ years on the rivers – Potomac and Rappahannock – he definitely knows what he’s doing.
Well today was that day, and what a beautiful one it was. We left the docks a little before 7a on the Potomac and away we went. The light was low – you know, that deep bluish light. Did you know that time of the day is actually called “blue hour”? The sky had already started to transform pink and orange but no big ball of light yet. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how amazing and beautiful the sunrise was today (take a peek at the photos above) and yet how small it made me feel out there on that boat in all its glory. Within the next hour, the wind was gone, the temp had steadily gone up and sky had turned a glorious amber color. The PERFECT day for a ride on the river.
I was treated to some history of the river, had landmarks pointed out, advised on fishing laws when I questioned why they couldn’t keep a fish, and got to view the beautiful cliff views of Westmoreland State Park and Stratford Hall. And you know me, I got a few photos of some waterfowl flying by too! I couldn’t wait to come home and view the photos I captured. Above are a few from today, and more to come in the future….
And I have a surprise announcement that I’ll be sharing in the next week or so…. stay tuned, cause I CANNOT wait to tell you!
Thanks for coming over and reading my new blog page. Keep an eye out for the next one!
