Kimberly A King Photography
Warsaw, Virginia & the Northern Neck
Your pet is family. They deserve to be photographed like it - with intention, warmth, and images that capture exactly who they are before time moves on.
The Approach
I work entirely at your pet's pace - no rushing, no stress. We let them settle in and find their comfort before the camera comes out.
The Images
Genuine personality, not forced poses. The quirks, the expressions, the way they look at you - those are the moments we're after.
The Artwork
Prints and wall art that honor your pet as the beloved family member they are - displayed beautifully in your home for years to come.
"Pets fill our homes with joy and our hearts with a love that deserves to be remembered long after they're gone."
- Kimberly A KingPets are some of the most joyful, expressive, and fleeting presences in our lives. They grow older quietly and leave too soon - which is exactly why documenting who they are right now matters so much.
I photograph dogs, cats, horses, and other beloved animals throughout Warsaw, the Northern Neck, and surrounding Virginia communities. Sessions take place outdoors in beautiful natural settings or in the studio - whatever suits your pet's personality and comfort best.
Whether it's just your pet, your pet with the kids, or a full family portrait that includes every four-legged member of the household, I'm here to make it a beautiful, stress-free experience.
Let's ChatA few of the beloved pets who have come through my lens - each one with their own personality, their own story, and their own way of stealing the show.
Simple, relaxed, and completely guided. Here's what working together looks like from the first hello to the finished artwork on your wall.

A quick chat to talk through your pet's personality, temperament, and what kind of session would suit them best - studio, outdoors, or a mix of both.
Planning
We choose the perfect location, timing, and any props or special details that reflect your pet's personality. I'll send tips to help them arrive happy and ready.
The Session
A relaxed, pet-paced experience. We let them explore, get comfortable, and be themselves. The best images always come from patience, not pressure.
Your Artwork
A private reveal where you choose your favorites. Prints, albums, and wall art ordered and delivered - honoring your pet in a way they deserve.
Both options are available. The best choice depends on your pet's personality, energy level, and what kind of images you're dreaming of.
Studio Sessions
Clean & Timeless
My home studio in Warsaw offers a calm, controlled environment with beautiful lighting and a variety of backdrop options. Ideal for cats, smaller dogs, and any pet who does best in a quiet space.
Outdoor Sessions
Natural & Free
The Northern Neck is beautiful - and most dogs think so too. Outdoor sessions let your pet run, explore, and be completely themselves in a natural setting with gorgeous natural light.
We were so nervous our dog wouldn't cooperate but Kimberly was endlessly patient and knew exactly how to get him to relax. The photos are absolutely stunning - we have them on our wall and get compliments on them constantly.

What if my pet doesn't "perform" for the camera?
This is the most common concern - and honestly, the most unfounded. I never expect pets to perform. We go entirely at their pace, let them sniff and explore, and wait for the real moments. Unscripted is almost always better anyway. Some of the most beautiful pet portraits come from the quiet, in-between moments.
Do you photograph cats and other animals, or just dogs?
I photograph all kinds of pets - dogs, cats, horses, and other beloved animals. The session style is adapted to each animal's temperament. Cats, for example, often do beautifully in a calm studio environment where they can explore on their own terms.
Can my family be in the photos with our pet?
Absolutely - and I encourage it. Some of the most treasured images are the ones where you and your pet are in the frame together. We'll make time for individual pet portraits as well as family frames that include everyone.
How long is a pet session?
Most pet sessions run about 45 minutes to an hour. We work at whatever pace your pet needs - there's no rushing. If they need a break, we take one. If they're having a great time and want to keep going, we keep going.
Should I bring treats?
Yes! Bring your pet's favorite treats and any toys that get their attention. A squeaky toy for ear-perking and their favorite snack for focus work wonders. Let me know in advance if your pet has any dietary needs or sensitivities.
What if my pet passes away before the session?
If you are considering a pet portrait session, please don't wait. Our time with our animals is shorter than we ever want it to be. If you've recently lost a beloved pet and have existing photos, reach out - I may be able to help create something beautiful from what you already have.
